We can provide face-fit testing for all your staff using disposable filtering face pieces (FFPs) or half mask type respirators, and provide a full detailed report.
Why provide a Face Fit test?
If you provide respiratory protective equipment (RPE) to your employees then it is essential that you have documentation to evidence that the RPE fits and protects the wearer properly. This is called Face-fit testing.
The face fit test will be carried out by a trained and competent person and will ensure that your company is fulfilling the requirements laid out in the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) guidance note HSE282/28.
The face fit test includes:
- Brief introduction to the need for Face Fit testing
- Correct fitting of masks
- Qualitative fit test which includes the wearing of mask & hood
- The sensitivity test to a substance
- Practical face fit testing of disposable filtering face pieces (FFPs) or half mask type respirators with test exercises to a detectable substance
- Pass /fail result
- Certificate of test and required records of testing provided and to be kept for 5 years.
The wearer will need to be clean shaven and should not eat or drink especially coffee, chew gum or smoke for at least one hour prior to the test. Water can be drunk if required. The wearer will be required to bring any other PPE worn with the mask i.e. hard hat or goggles and any corrective medical devices used such as spectacles and/or safety spectacles needed to be worn with the RPE.
